Bob Hallgren, CFP®

Bob Hallgren joined Joel Magruder’s team as a full-time Financial Advisor in 2020. Prior to this transition, he had been associated with Financial Partners Group on a part-time basis since 2009.

Bob earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics/Statistics with emphasis in Finance from Purdue University in 1990 and a Master of Arts in Actuarial Science from Ball State University in 1992. Upon graduation from Ball State, he worked in the Insurance Industry for 9 years in a variety of actuarial roles earning the designation of Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) in 1994. After discerning a calling to teach, Bob left his actuarial career to begin what would become a very rewarding and fruitful 18 years of service with Dowling Catholic High School as a math teacher.

Since 2007 Bob has actively explored the field of financial planning while still teaching full-time. He views financial planning like his teaching experience at Dowling Catholic - an opportunity to build relationships, inspire connection to passion and purpose, and develop plans striving for success. The transition to full-time Financial Advisor allows Bob to utilize his problem-solving background as an Actuary, as well as coach people through important financial decisions with the heart of a teacher.

Over the years Bob has been involved with faith-based financial study programs through CROWN Financial Ministries, Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, and Phil Lenahan’s 7 Steps to Becoming Financially Free.  Bob is passionate about promoting stewardship and incorporating faith and values into the planning process. He has held Series 7 and 66 registrations through LPL Financial as well as licenses for life, accident, health, and variable contracts since 2009. As of October 2020, Bob completed the certification process to earn the designation CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

Bob is a transplant to Iowa from Fort Wayne, Indiana; however, after moving to Des Moines in 1992, he has come to call Iowa home. Bob married his long-time best friend, Julie, in 2023 at St Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale, Iowa, where they continue to be active members. Together, they share a passion for outdoor adventures, family, and humbly witnessing to God’s goodness.
